KAAL PADI (ULAKKU)

A Kaal Padi, commonly known as a Uzhakku, is a traditional South Indian measuring vessel, usually made of brass, used for measuring grains, rice, and liquids. It is a key part of traditional kitchen tools, with a capacity of approximately 200–250 ml (or 1/4 of a full Padi).

Usage: Used to measure rice, grains, and in traditional rituals (Nira Padi).
Capacity: 1 Uzhakku = 2 Aazhaakku = 1/4 Padi (hence ‘Kaal’ Padi).
