Dhandayuthapani
The Palani Murugan idol, a central figure in the Dhandayuthapani Swamy Temple, is unique for being crafted from a blend of nine minerals, including some considered poisonous, known as navapashanam.
The idol depicts Lord Murugan in the Dhandayuthapani form, a young recluse with a shaven head, dressed in a loincloth, and holding a staff (dhanda). It stands on a stone pedestal within the temple’s sanctum sanctorum.
